About The Artist
My studio work is focused on the creation of coil-built figures – large and small scale - that are a response to the spatial relationships between people in contemporary dance, music and even social gatherings.
I am attracted to Raku and wood firing because they are not totally predictable and invite intuitive responses to chance.
As well as my studio work I also I enjoy site-specific projects. This gives me the chance to combine ceramic materials (for their permanence, surface qualities, and malleability) with other materials.
Personal responses to place confirm our humanity and our individuality. Much of my past studio work has been based around the processes of erosion and renewal that shape landscapes.
